Caring for Your Work Boots: Tips to Extend Their Life

Proper care extends the lifespan of safety footwear and maintains its protective qualities. After each shift, wipe down the upper to remove dirt, dust, or chemical residue that can degrade materials over time. For leather uppers, occasional conditioning helps prevent cracking and maintains water resistance.
Allow boots to air dry naturally after exposure to moisture — avoid direct heat sources like radiators, which can warp soles and damage adhesives. Rotating between two pairs, if possible, gives each pair time to fully dry and recover its cushioning between wears.
Check the outsole regularly for wear patterns. Uneven wear can indicate it's time for replacement, as reduced tread depth lowers slip resistance even if the boot otherwise looks intact.
